Three days itinerary of our staycation at Amwaj Rotana, JBR!

Here we go again! Another review, another staycation but this time I am writing in a form of an itinerary.

About the hotel: Amwaj Rotana is located at Jumeirah Beach Residence with 301 rooms, each facing the Arabian gulf.

Read the complete three days itinerary to know if this 5 star hotel is worth a staycation. Before you begin, grab a snack, make yourself comfortable and enjoy!
Day 1 (Thursday)

  • Check in

We knew we wouldn’t be able to do much because we checked in late and directly from work. (what is the whole point of the staycation if you are not feeling fully relaxed, right?) The check in process was smooth and everyone was very welcoming. As for the lobby, it is relatively small with central seating, a coffee shop in the corner, minimal setting and many guests.

  • Hotel tour

Nevertheless, we had a hotel tour and I was highly impressed with the choices of restaurants (yes, food is always on my mind)- there is Italian (Rossos), Japanese (benihana) and a British pub (JB’s Gastro Pub). Out of all, Gastro had the best vibes with exciting interiors.

  • Our first reaction to the room

We stayed in the ‘classic room with sea view’ (All their rooms have sea view which makes me wonder that no one would be disappointed with the view). The classic room offers a two seater sofa section, a table with fruits and nuts waiting to be eaten, TV displaying the welcome note and a comfortable (but felt a little hard) queen size bed. Also, a big bathtub with speakers connected to the TV and nobody can complain about that (at least we didn’t).

  • View

My eyes caught attention of the balcony and I stepped in and oh, I knew the rest of the stay is going to be great. I am a big sucker for hotel with a view, and this was definitely an amazing view. You may admire the pool, buildings, the beach and almost done worlds biggest ferries wheel. On the other hand, you can’t really sit outside in this heat, it would be best in the winters.

  • The rest of the day

JBR is one of the most happening place in Dubai and without doubt, my favorite because of the endless options- supermarkets, pharmacies , fast food and other restaurants are all walking distance and I must tell you this, this area is full of people and cars the whole night on weekends (I literally went in my pjs and had a smoothie at 3pm) Moreover, we had dinner at Shake Shack, then watched some tv and had a long peaceful sleep.

Day 2 (Friday)

  • Breakfast

Now that we were all energized and fresh, we got up early morning and went for breakfast. The breakfast was at Horizon all day dining overlooking the walk, it wasn’t a feast but instead a simple breakfast, in other words, quality over quantity- just the way I like! (No one wants to be too extra in the morning). Omelette, cheeses, mini pancakes, cereals, muffins and beverages and much more were part of the breakfast (Secret: I might have had too many muffins tho). Let’s not forget the fantastic and fast services!

  • Brunch

The Friday Brunch at Amwaj Rotana Hotel is literally all in one package! You get the taste of Italy (Rosso’s), Japan (Benihana) and International delicacies. If you like to read more, click here.

  • Swimming pool

Would you spend a day at the beach or the swimming pool? Both are easily accessible from the hotel. We avoided the beach because of our lovely friend, Mr.Sun so instead we headed to the pool. The swimming pool seemed great from our balcony however it turned out to be a great disappointment as the water level was so high. Anyone who doesn’t know how to swim (example: me) wouldn’t at all stand a chance to enjoy the pool. So I just held the end and cycled my legs for hardly 30 mins.

Side note: Incase you like to go to the beach, the hotel offers complimentary beach kits consisting of umbrella, mat, towels and water bottles.

  • Rest of the day

We weren’t very hungry so we just had Tim Hortons for dinner and then watched movies all night (also stared out of thebalcony a lot, bascially stalking everyone). Also, checked out the 24 hours Art fitness center and spa with jacuzzi.

Day 3 (Saturday)

  • Check out

We had breakfast and went for a little bit of swimming. We took a nap and then checked out at 12pm. The hardest was to say goodbye to the view and our pin drop silence kind of peaceful room.

Services: The services from day 1 were impressive (I am sure most of the staff weren’t aware that we were reviewing). Also, I read in few of the reviews that the complimentary beverages in the room were limited and I completely disagree with it because everyday we had a knock on our door asking if we need anything (tea, coffee, mugs, towels and etc…)

Overall, it was a successful staycation and I would definitely recommend to all the tourists or residents as for the best location, beautiful view and top notch services!
